New York artist Mari Andrew has garnered a big Instagram following for her honest, minimalistic drawings, which express common adult issues through eloquent observations.
She's in Melbourne this week for a series of events with The School of Life, exploring how to use art to process the trials and experiences of adulthood.
Andrew will discuss her recently published first book, Am I There Yet? The Loop-de-loop, Zigzagging Journey to Adulthood, and her six guiding themes to navigate the journey: resilience, isolation, empathy, authenticity, discovery and healing.
She will also be hosting an art workshop, Turning Pain into Art, using art therapy techniques to help you find healing in your own creations. You'll also have the chance to connect with Mari in an intimate group setting, learning new skills face-to-face.
The lectures will be on Wednesday June 20 and Friday June 22, 7pm–8.30pm, starting from $30. The workshop will be held on Thursday June 21, 6.30pm–8.30pm, for $250.
