Malthouse Outdoor Stage
Live music is slowly creeping back – and Malthouse Theatre is getting in on the action.
This summer, the boundary-pushing arts hub, in a renovated brewery, will become a live-music venue with the addition of a new, purpose-built (and permanent) amphitheatre in its courtyard.
It all kicks off with a 10-day series of gigs from January 21 to 31. Highlights include lush neo-soul from the Papua New Guinean-born Kaiit on January 21; genre-crossing tracks from Melbourne outfit Mildlife on January 23 and 24; and acclaimed Indigenous vocalist Emma Donovan and local rhythm combo The Putbacks on January 29.
In the future, the stage will also host stand-up sets, talks curated by The Wheeler Centre and The Saturday Paper, and workshops by ACCA and Chunky Move.
Tickets go on sale at 10am on Monday December 7.
