Made of Ballarat Pop-Up Shop

Fri 29th March, 2019 – Wed 24th April, 2019
Shop 4, 218–242 Little Collins Street
Price: $0–$228
Learn the art of backyard beekeeping, concoct your own gin cocktail, or meet two young producers transforming Ballarat's food and drink scene.

Throughout April, Melburnians will be able to experience Ballarat’s thriving creative scene without the 90-minute drive north-west of the city.

A Collins Street shopfront will house the Made of Ballarat pop-up shop, inspired by the workshops and studios of Ballarat’s makers and artisans and selling their wares.

The eclectic space will also host a Meet the Makes series of masterclasses, demonstrations and tastings.

On April 5, Backyard Beekeeping Ballarat’s Amanda and Scott Denno will share their knowledge of the humble honeybee (plus offer honey tastings).

The team from Kilderkin Distillery will give a masterclass in modern gin-making – including a brief history lesson, gin sampling and make-your-own cocktails – On May 11.

And, on April 12, Gourmet Traveller’s 2018 Young Winemaker of the Year, Owen Latta (Latta Vino and Estern Peake), and Mick Nunn, the chef behind nose-to-tail specialist Salt Kitchen Charcuterie, will be co-hosting a workshop. The duo will teach attendees how to pair meat with wine.

Many of the sessions are free, but bookings are essential. Open daily 10am to 6pm.
