The Art of Publishing: An Exhibition of MACK Books
Whoever said print was dead clearly hadn’t stumbled across MACK books, one of the world’s leading producers of contemporary and historical photography books.
This summer, Melbourne's Centre for Contemporary Photography will host the entire catalogue, associated prints and artefacts from the London-based publisher in a major, first-of-its-kind exhibition.
Presented by Perimeter Books, The Art of Publishing: An Exhibition of MACK Books will showcase rare books and special editions – many previously unseen in Australia – as well as original prints and explorations into digital publishing.
The line-up includes Adam Broomberg + Oliver Chanarin (Holy Bible), Paul Graham (a shimmer of possibility), Benrido Portfolio, and a newly commissioned wall piece by John Warwicker (The Floating World).
All MACK books are designed in close collaboration with authors, resulting in some of the defining artist books of the 21st century.
MACK’s founder and director Michael Mack will also be visiting Australia to present a lecture titled A Serpentine Progression; inspired by the quote from Italian writer and publisher Roberto Calasso: “All books published by a certain publisher could be seen as links in a single chain, or segments in a serpentine progression of books, or fragments in a single book.”
Tickets for the lecture are available through Perimeter Books.
