In between two alleyways just off Little Lonsdale Street, you’ll find a heritage-listed brick building built in 1877. Originally part of a terrace of six, it’s the only single-storey house from the nineteenth century to survive in the CBD area.
Today it’s home to Little Lon Distilling Co, which is pouring takeaway cocktails and selling bottled drinks through a discrete “gindow” (yes, gin plus window). While sliding your mask down to sip anything boozy outdoors is not currently permitted, do a haul and get stuck into it at home.
Freshly mixed takeaway cocktails on offer include a Mulled Dutchy Apple Gin made with spiced Dutch Genever-style gin, Pedro Ximenez and warmed apple juice; a warm Dutch Koffie not dissimilar to Irish coffee, made with an upcoming coffee liqueur in collaboration with The League of Honest Coffee; and a just-released Barrel-Aged Dutchy Old Fashioned.
You can also get $10 gin and tonics, bottled cocktails and the distillery’s retail range (there’s a free bottle of tonic with every gin sold).
