The three-day culinary market lands for the first time in Melbourne.

You’ve heard of The Big Design Market, which takes over the Royal Exhibition Building in Melbourne every year with hundreds of independent designers. Now get ready for the maiden voyage of its new sister event, The Little Food Market, happening over one weekend in late July.

The Little Food Market celebrates original, high-quality products and experiences from some of Australia’s best culinary creators. Tastemakers from all over the country descend on the iconic Royal Exhibition Building for three days of food, drink and premium products – from artisanal honey, organic cheese and award-winning olive oil to craft beer, boutique spirits and sweet treats.

Resident stallholders include crispy-chilli-oil purveyors Six-Eyed Scorpion, Sicilian sweet-treat experts Cannoleria, King Valley winemakers Pizzini, Mount Zero Olives, Tassie farmhouse Grandvewe Cheeses and award-winning olive-oil innovators Goldi. Between snacks and sips, browse a huge range of designer homewares (think table linen, picnic essentials, ceramics, tablewares and more).

The three-day program features a stacked line-up of culinary activations. The Fermentary’s Sharon Flynn demonstrates the magic of fermentation; That’s Amore’s Giorgio Linguanti and Cannoleria’s Dario Di Clerico show visitors how to make mozzarella from scratch; Movida founder Frank Camorra showcases Spanish producers and tapas recipes; Dessert Masters winner Gareth Whitton (Tarts Anon) shares his show-stopping tart recipes; while Supercheese’s Jeremy Spradbery presents his take on the ultimate cheeseboard.

At cocktail hour, winemakers from Jamsheed, Larnook Wines and St Hubert’s join forces for a guided wine tasting and a chat, while Diageo’s 2018 world’s best bartender, Orlando Marzo, teaches visitors how to make world-class cocktails from the comfort of your own home.
