Lasagna Love-In

Tue 12th July, 2022 – Thu 28th July, 2022
Gather some mates and clear space in the freezer for an epic lasagne feast with creations from some of Melbourne’s best – including 1800 Lasagne, Al Dente, Grossi a Casa and more.

World Lasagna Day falls on July 29, but food journalist (and Broadsheet contributor) Dani Valent has enlisted some top hospo names to celebrate the multi-layered pasta masterpiece for three whole weeks.

She’s brought back her Cooks & Chefs Series with a focus on the bolognaise-and-bechamel creation, in partnership with food business platform Cookaborough. Each week has seen different lasagne creations available to order, with a veritable feast to end with a bang.

Previously you could get new dishes by Windsor’s Lasagnalab and the classics from hotline-turned-wine bar 1800 Lasagne – delivered cold and ready to heat at home for the first time ever. But now it’s time for the main event.

Right before World Lasagna Day, call over some mates and share a huge lasagne spread from some of Melbourne’s best: there’ll be creations from Lasagnalab, 1800 Lasagne, Grossi a Casa, Al Dente, Via Porta, That’s Amore, Pasta Poetry, Meals With Impact and even Pie Thief, with its lasagne pie making an appearance on the menu.

Five per cent of all sales will be donated to food charity Fareshare, which makes free meals that are nutritious and culturally appropriate for people in need. You can donate directly when ordering your lasagne – a $10 donation can put food on the table for four people.

Orders close at 10pm on Monday July 25, with delivery on Thursday July 28. Cookaborough is delivering within 12 kilometres of Abbotsford, or there are pick-up points in Footscray, Hawthorn, Kew, Mont Albert, Fairfield, Windsor and Carlton.
