Hang a small slice of the iconic theatre’s history in your home with limited-edition reproductions of its posters from the ’60s and ’70s.

Since opening its doors in 1967, La Mama Theatre has been one of the city’s most iconic and longstanding independent playhouses, persisting through devastating fires, funding losses and a global pandemic. The artist-led, not-for-profit Carlton venue has long provided a space for emerging creatives; Aussie darling Cate Blanchett cut her teeth there in the late ’80s.

To celebrate its history, La Mama is releasing four limited-edition reproductions of its theatre posters from the ’60s and ’70s. Among the prints, there’s a 1969 La Mama company poster by Aussie illustrator Ian McCausland and the theatre’s 1971 production of The Removalists featuring Bruce Spence.

Each A2 print is an edition of 300, priced at $200 each. Or get all four for $700.

All sale proceeds go towards supporting ongoing theatre works and commissioning and staging new works.
