King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard at Croxton Block Party 2026

It’s been less than a year since Melbourne psych-rock group King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard lit up Sidney Myer Music Bowl with back-to-back performances for their 27th album, Phantom Island.

In very good news, the unbelievably prolific band just announced another pair of back-to-back shows. This October they’ll headline Croxton Block Party in Thornbury two nights in a row, playing for three hours on both dates. Held in the Croxton bandroom carpark, the mini festival debuted last year with Tropical Fuck Storm, Spiderbait and more.

King Gizz has been given the opportunity to pick their own support acts.

On day one they’ll be joined by Japanese pop-punk band Shonen Knife, Byron Bay psych-rock act Babe Rainbow, local post-punk band Techno666, clubby Egyptian Australian DJ-producer Moktar,  and King Gizz bassist Lucas Harwood’s four-piece side project Heavy Moss. Plus, King Gizz frontman Stu McKenzie will drop another rave-y modular synth set, like the one we heard at Fed Square in October last year.

On day two, the line-up consists of Moktar again, Geelong psych-rock trio ORB, Sydney rockers C.O.F.F.I.N, experimental electronic duo Glyconic, plus Melbourne punk darlings Gut Health and Public Figures. More acts will be announced for both days.

“It’s a fitting one for us,” the team from the Croxton wrote in a statement. “Gizz played their first-ever Croxton show back in December 2015, just after we opened our doors, and they’ve been back eight times since – including a three-night residency in 2016, the run-up to Polygondwanaland in 2018, and their legendary Bushfire Benefit show back in 2020. We’re so honoured to have the boys back for a Block Party takeover in 2026.”

Tickets are on sale from midday on July 31. Single-day tickets are $100, sold separately. Two-day tickets are $185 and strictly limited.
