Julian Opie at NGV

Fri 9th November, 2018 – Sun 17th February, 2019
10:00am – 5:00pm
180 St Kilda Road Melbourne
See bold works by the iconic British artist in Melbourne.

Recognised for his distinctly bold yet pared-back works, which astounded the 1980s British art scene, Julian Opie holds a firm place in history as a widely influential artist. And now his work is being exhibited at the NGV International, in an exhibition created specifically in response to that space.

A large collection of Opie’s contemporary work, the influence of which on popular culture can still be seen today, will be on view daily until Sunday February 17. The exhibition has a strong focus on human stories.

Paintings, sculpture, films, friezes and photographs will showcase the artist’s iconic works on the ground level. And more than 40 moving-image works will be on display in the gallery’s central space, presenting Opie’s finest works from 1993 to the current day.

Entry is free and tours, including a scheduled Auslan tour, will be available for those who want to witness the bold, brightly coloured works up close.

From 10am to 5pm daily.
