Johnston Street Festival
This weekend Melbourne's Hispanic community takes over Johnston Street for the annual Hispanic Fiesta- an annual two day festival celebrating one thousand years of the Spanish language, the Hispanic Festival or Fiesta de la Hispanidad was officially established in 1978.
The roads are blocked and there are food stalls everywhere- sizzling pans of paella, jugs of sangria and course hot donuts are in abundance.
But the best part is the music and the dancing- cha cha, samba, merengue and everything in between. For us novices there are classes but if you forget your dancing shoes you can sit back with a glass of sangria and watch the professionals shake it down the street.
The event starts at midday each day and continues into the night.
