Jackalope Cinema
Set on a vineyard between Red Hill and Balnarring, luxury art hotel Jackalope is one of Victoria’s most lush destination stays. And it just got a little more special.
For the entire month of March, it’s running Jackalope Cinema, bringing the best of old-time classics, international picks and other cult favourite flicks to the silver screen in style.
For no extra charge, hotel guests can enjoy a night at the movies from their private terrace rooms with vineyard-facing views or catch a seat on Jackalope’s 30-metre infinity pool deck. As with any good cinema, there’ll be snacks on offer from bottomless popcorn and ice-cream to a curated menu of nostalgia-inspired bites along with vino.
Opening night, on March 1, kicks off with Wes Anderson’s The Grand Budapest Hotel. Other films on the line-up – all hand-picked by Jackalope founder Louis Li – include Inception, Notting Hill, Past Lives, Dune, Gladiator II, A Star Is Born and The King’s Speech.
Before the movie begins, guests can dine under 10,000 golden, undulating lights – by artist Jan Flook – at Jackalope’s restaurant Doot Doot Doot. Order from the pre-movie menu featuring dishes like loaded nachos with Wagyu bolognese; a classic cheeseburger with shoestring fries; Korean fried chicken with gochujang sauce, spring onion and sesame; a cheese plate with muscatel grapes and fruit paste; chocolate-dipped strawberries; churros; and more.
