In the wake of the August 4 explosion in Beirut, Melbourne chef Tom Sarafian – of Middle Eastern diner Bar Saracen – is running a hummus fundraiser to help support those impacted.
For $15, you can get a 300-gram tub of plain hummus, with all proceeds going directly to the Lebanese Red Cross, which is playing a major part in the relief effort. Sarafian is hoping to raise $10,000.
Tubs are available to pick-up at more than a dozen venues across Melbourne from Thursday to Saturday. Those in the north can head to Meatsmith, Smith & Deli, All Are Welcome in Northcote and Thornbury, Smith Street Alimentari, Falco Bakery, Wild Life Bakery and Rumi.
Bar Saracen quickly sold out of its own stock, but an extra 100 tubs will be available to pick up from the city on Saturday afternoon.
Until sold out.
Melbourne’s stage-four lockdown restrictions mean you cannot travel more than five kilometres from your home, and only one person per household can go shopping – and only once per day.
