Honk! Untitled Goose Game Exhibition at ACMI

Tue 17th September, 2024 – Sun 16th February, 2025
Remember the addictive, silly game that became an instant hit in 2019? It’s now the subject of a free exhibition – and Melbourne gets to enjoy it first.

It might have been set in a quaint little English village, but the viral Untitled Goose Game was created in Victoria by gaming company House House in 2019.

Anyone who played it will remember adopting the role of a prankster goose who wreaks havoc on its community. The game became a global phenomenon, winning a Bafta in 2020 for Best Family Game. It also won the 2020 Dice Game of the Year (basically the Oscars for gaming). And later this year, another honour: a public exhibition at ACMI.

Honk! Untitled Goose Exhibition opens at ACMI on September 17, ahead of the 10th annual Melbourne International Games Week which opens on October 5. It’s a world-premiere exhibition that’ll include previously unseen concept art and design sketches, as well as early versions of the game that visitors can play. It also focuses on the game’s innovation and design, while placing it in the history of slapstick throughout a century of film and TV.

Specialist video game fans will particularly appreciate the critical design details and insight into the game’s technical development on show. But anyone can attend and enjoy the colourful displays, comedy-focused curation and seeing the stages of a game coming to life.

Honk! Untitled Goose Game Exhibition will run from September 17 to February 16, 2025.
