Merry Christmas, ya filthy animals.

After The Little Mermaid, Harry Potter, Ghostbusters and Star Wars, the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra’s latest cinematic tribute is another instant classic: Home Alone.

The film was released on December 13, 1990, and almost three decades later it's screening on the same date – this time with a score by an orchestra – just two weeks before Christmas.

As Kevin McCallister (Macaulay Culkin) is accidentally left behind by his family on a Christmas holiday to Paris and defends his home from two robbers (Joe Pesci, Daniel Stern), composer John Williams’s Academy Award-nominated musical score will be performed live by the MSO and a full choir, under conductor Benjamin Northey.

And while Star Wars and Harry Potter MSO screenings have extended to other films in the sagas, there’s no word yet on plans to screen Home Alone 2, where the film’s most iconic phrase came from. It’ll certainly be a Merry Christmas either way, ya filthy animals.

Tickets are on sale now. Concession tickets cost between $49 and $120 and full-price tickets cost between $59 and $125.
