A celebration of dance music through the decades, History of House is coming to Melbourne this weekend following a smash-hit season at Adelaide Fringe.

The collaboration between Australian DJ Groove Terminator – behind Y2K hit One More Time (The Sunshine Song) – and three-time Grammy Award-winning Soweto Gospel Choir is an energetic and joyful journey through the history of house music, from 70s disco, 80s pop and Detroit techno through to the end of the millennium. Expect hits by dance-floor staples Sylvester, Chic, The Source, Donna Summer, Daft Punk and more, amplified by the powerhouse vocals and energy of the South African gospel choir.

First formed in 2002, Soweto Gospel Choir has performed with the likes of Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Bono, Queen and Celine Dion. Together with luminary Groove Terminator AKA Simon Lewicki, who’s captivated dancefloors with his club classics for over three decades, they’ll be schooling you on a history lesson of the liveliest kind. Come prepared to dance.

From 7.30pm. Tickets here
