HD Fresh by Hector’s Deli
Hector’s Deli makes ripper sangas that are always worth the wait. But with lockdown restrictions in place and coronavirus spreading through the community, the Hector’s team wants to help people maintain proper distancing while still grabbing a delicious lunch.
That’s why they’ve launched HD Fresh, a new offering that focuses on freshly made (as opposed to made-to-order), pre-wrapped sandwiches that are easy to grab and go – no waiting in line for the sandwich press and hot toasties. But that doesn’t mean sandwiches that have been sitting there waiting for ages – co-owner Dom Wilton says they keep a strict sitting time of 25 minutes max.
The whole menu has been revamped to make turnaround times much quicker, with a new sourdough Turkish bread developed just for the range. The sandwiches include a BLT with Uncle’s Smallgoods bacon, ranch and chilli butter; roast free-range chicken salad with lemon thyme and citrus mayo; confit eggplant with kale pesto and sweet-pickled fennel; roast pork shoulder with parsley pesto and Calabrian chilli; and rare Cape Grim roast beef from Gary’s Quality Meats with parsley pesto, horseradish cream and sweet pickled white onion.
The new sandwiches will be on the menu at Hector’s Deli in South Melbourne when it opens. There are also one-off specials from staff on Fridays.
