Hawker 88 Night Market

Wed 19th September, 2018 – Wed 24th October, 2018
Queen Victoria Market
Corner of Elizabeth & Victoria Streets, Melbourne
One Wednesday there's a durian festival. You've been warned.

More than 20 food stalls are coming to the Queen Vic Market selling traditional street food from across Asia. Expect Malaysian satay, Indian curries, Korean pork belly and more.

Weekly themes at the market – including a durian festival and a mooncake festival – are designed to encourage visitors to learn more about the food they’re consuming and its associated culture and traditions.

The Market sheds will be hung with 88 lanterns – eight being the luckiest number in Chinese culture – under which visitors can sit down at the communal table to eat their food and be entertained by musicians and performers. The entertainment will come in the form of Bollywood dancers, K-Pop performers and Filipino singers. There will also be karaoke and eating competitions.

Brick Lane Brewing Co has created a special beer brewed using Japanese Sorachi Ace hops.

The event is running on Wednesdays from 5pm to 10pm.
