The Asian street-food market returns with Thai fried chicken by Son in Law, Filipino barbeque, traditional live music, a curry-eating contest and more.

Celebrate different cuisines across Asia at Hawker 88 Night Market, bringing street food favourites to the sheds of Queen Victoria Market once again. Taking place over five Wednesday nights, each week will see a new theme complete with food stalls, performances and competitions.

Among the offerings, there’s Filipino barbeque by Bboy’s BBQ, Thai fried chicken by Son in Law, aromatic bowls by The Laksa Shack, Cambodian lemongrass beef sticks by Flamin’ Skewers, XO oysters by Singa Seafood Bar, kottu roti from Drums and more. Enjoy it all with a drink from bubble tea bar Black Pearl or Brick Lane Brewing Co.

Walk through a decorative canopy of hanging lanterns, neon lights and other traditional decorations before taking a seat at one of the many communal tables while enjoying live music and dance performances, a curry-eating competition and a traditional Chinese costume parade.

April 9: Pan-Asian Night

Enjoy a night of Vietnamese, Thai, Chinese and East Malaysian dance performances. There’ll also be a K-pop dance crew, a lion dance procession and an Asian fusion band.

April 16: Bali to Bangkok Night

Come along for a martial arts display, Malaysian and Filipino traditional dancing, Indonesian gamelan drumming and a Thai music band.

April 23: Rising Sun Night

Enjoy watching Japanese taiko drumming, K-pop dancers and a Filipino live band. Plus, there’ll be roving geishas and Korean costume parades.

April 30: Bollywood Night

Get down to enjoy a night of Bollywood showbiz. There’ll be a Bollywood dance-off workshop, bhangra dance performances and henna mural making. Plus, take part in a curry-eating competition.

May 7: Yin and Yang Night

Round off the market with a mix of Chinese and K-pop dancing, a Squid Game-inspired DJ set and a traditional Chinese costume parade.
