When Half Acre co-owner Adam Wright-Smith lived in New York, he spent many weekends grazing on the famous all-you-can-eat buffet brunch spread at hotel and restaurant Soho House. No bain-maries here – only a lavish, plentiful banquet with everything from crunchy granola and fruit, to mounds of lox and bagels. That's the inspiration for this Melbourne Food & Wine Festival event – the only brunch-focused event at the festival.
For one weekend only, Half Acre's rustic kitchen table will be home to overflowing platters of brunch favourites, including Challah French toast; Tunisian-style brik pastry filled with spiced capsicum, tomato and eggs; smoked salmon and crème fraiche, dill and pickles; roasted figs with stracciatella; fresh fruit; and a pear and walnut crumble. There'll also be a DIY Bloody Mary station, and live music.
A $58 ticket gets you unlimited food and a custom-made – by you – Bloody Mary.
Half Acre's All-You-Can-Eat Buffet Brunch and DIY Bloody Marys runs from 11am to 4pm on Saturday March 23 and Sunday March 24.
