George Calombaris’s Greek street-eats institution Gazi is launching a Chinese-style Sunday-lunch experience: Greek Yum Cha.
On Sundays throughout summer, from midday to 3pm, Gazi will be serving 10 Greek-Asian dishes, which you can dig into for $49 a head. An extra $35 will get you endless cocktails to wash down your spanakopita gyoza, and feta spring rolls doused in honey sesame. Pork-bun-style lamb char-tsoureki (tsoureki is a Greek seasoned sweet bread) is also on the menu.
Cocktails-wise, there’s the San-Grecian made with white wine from Lefkes, peach, strawberry, lemon, rose and soda; and the Oolong Island Iced Tea with Long Island mix, lemon, lime, orange bitters, orange, black tapioca pearls and “cola” (made from oolong tea, muscavado and lime).
Whether you’re bringing a group or going it alone, best make a booking and arrive hungry. Starts Sunday December 9.
