Imagined Worlds at Glen Eira City Council Gallery
This winter, the Glen Eira City Council invites the family to become immersed in a magical exhibition of storytelling, mythology and fantasy.
Imagined Worlds explores the diverse interpretations of the fairytale narrative and its enduring allure into contemporary culture through works by major Australian artists, including photographer Polixeni Papapetrou, artist Charles Blackman, Michael Doolan, Kyoko Imazu, Amanda Marburg, Mirka Mora and Jacqui Stockdale.
The artists have created their own personal mythologies, offering astonishing and enchanting visual outcomes for viewers. From Amanda Marburg’s dark gothic narratives, to Michael Doolan’s ceramic Disney sculptures, Imagined Worlds brings to life wild fantasies.
The exhibition is programmed in association with the 2017 Glen Eira Storytelling Festival and is on display in Council’s Gallery Friday 26 May to Sunday 9 July.
