Fromage a Trois Cheese Festival 2019
Are you a turophile? It's a fancy way of saying you love cheese, stemming from the the Greek word tyros. If you are one, then Fromage a Trois Cheese Festival at the Werribee Mansion is the festival for you. After wandering through the mansion's manicured grounds, sit down for a picnic of gourmet cheese from some of Melbourne’s favourite cheesemongers.
That’s Amore Cheese will be tossing gnocchi in a 40-kilogram wheel of cheese, but if that doesn’t do it for you, maybe its fried mozzarella burger will. From Papa Gelato, expect cheesy gelato flavours such as gorgonzola and quince, blueberry cheesecake and Sicilian ricotta, as well as a blue cheese ice-cream from Timboon. Other highlights include cheesy offerings from Milk the Cow, Harper and Blohm, Meredith Dairy and bread from Cobb Lane to mop it all up.
On the main stage there will be appearances from chefs such as Oakridge Wine’s Jo Barrett, as well as cheese and wine masterclasses.
There will be lawn games and live music, including performances by disco-pop artist Bec Sandridge and Melbourne’s Vaudeville Smash (think funk, flute, sax and synth). And the festival's sponsor, Pyrenees Wine, is holding a grape stomp, and offering their array of rich reds and floral whites.
Try your hand at mozzarella stretching, lick on a cheese-flavoured ice-cream and have a lactose overdose taste testing the many other cheese creations – like mascarpone Tiramisu on a stick and blue cheese cannoli.
Tickets include cheese samples, entertainment and a take-home festival glass to remember the revelry.
From 11am to 6pm. Free entry for children 14 and under.
