Free Gelato at Piccolina Hardware Lane

The Piccolina team has been busy. Just weeks after opening a fourth, cocktail-bar-looking gelateria – on Swan Street in Richmond – it’s just opened yet another new store. Find it on Hardware Lane in the CBD, on the corner opposite Kirk’s Wine Bar.

To celebrate the opening, Piccolina is giving away free gelato to Broadsheet readers for an hour on Wednesday January 13. Bonus: the forecast is a sunny 33 degrees, so it’s the perfect day for it.

Piccolina owner Sandra Foti tapped long-time collaborators Paul Hecker and Hamish Guthrie of Melbourne architecture firm Hecker Guthrie to do the gelateria’s design. The dramatic fit-out leans into the building’s heritage features, “really, really high” ceilings and leadlight windows.
