Feldenkrais Discovery Day at Abbotsford Convent
Feldenkrais is a movement-based technique involving lots of stretching and breathing that aims to help the participant make connections between mind and body. The Victorian Division of the Australian Feldenkrais Guild is giving Melburnians the chance to experience the method at the Abbotsford Convent.
The event offers free individual lessons and group classes, exploring movement, breath and the integration of Feldenkrais into your everyday life. Speakers will shed light on the benefits of Feldenkrais and its intersection with topics such as neuroplasticity, pain management and communication.
The practice was introduced in 1949 by Moshe Feldenkrais, who developed his method through a combination of physiology, neurology and physics. With the rise of alternative exercise options more people are embracing Feldenkrais, as the practice is suitable for all ages and fitness levels.
Proponents of the practice also say the technique can alleviate chronic pain and tension.
