Fast fashion churns through textiles as quickly as it does trends, at huge cost to the environment. Every 10 minutes Australians dump 6000 kilograms of clothing in landfill.
As part of VAMFF 2019, temporary creative space Testing Grounds will host free interactive installation Fast Fashun.
For it, a tonne of clothing destined for landfill will be salvaged and brought to the short-term Southbank space – a giant cube behind the Arts Centre. There, visitors can rifle through the clothes to resurrect ensembles for hourly fashion shows.
Local designers will be there to offer tips for upcycling with style.
Fast Fashun runs from 12pm to 6pm on Saturdays March 2 and 9.
