Before it opens to the public, be the first to dine at Mr Miyagi in the Big Smoke – the new CBD pop-up from South Yarra’s much loved Japanese-inspired eatery – with Broadsheet Access.

Mr Miyagi is one of the most energetic eateries in Melbourne, famous for its salmon nori taco and other Japanese-inspired dishes. Now, it’s opening a pop-up restaurant at boutique CBD hotel QT Melbourne, called Mr Miyagi in the Big Smoke. And Broadsheet Access is giving you the opportunity to try it first.

The pop-up is opening exclusively for Access members and Broadsheet editors on Friday July 1 – the night before it opens to the public – for a special one-off dinner.

Tucked away in a secluded space within QT, you’ll be the first to try the restaurant’s mouth-watering new menu. Combining smoky flavours with quality Japanese ingredients, expect innovative dishes centered around charcoal-fired proteins. There’s smoked salmon served tableside from a glass cloche billowing with smoke; togarashi lamb chops with edamame and pea smash; a show-stopping dessert made with hickory-smoked miso caramel, and more. Plus, a signature QT cocktail on arrival.

Broadsheet Melbourne editor Tomas Telegramma will also be there to host an informal Q&A with head chef Kyle Doody (Heirloom, Jacques Reymond) about the restaurant’s decision to head south of the river.
