Dine Out: Volcanos Taco Special at Frankie’s Tortas and Tacos

From its origins as a modest open-air stall on Smith Street, Frankie’s Tortas and Tacos has grown into a slick – though still small – restaurant serving arguably the best tortas (Mexican sandwiches) in the city.

For Broadsheet’s first Dine Out festival, the spot is putting on a week-long special. Pop in to try a Volcanes taco ($17). Rarely seen in Australia, the dish features grilled steak, chorizo and melted Oaxacan cheese on a crisp tostada. Frankie’s is finishing its version with coriander, white onion, avocado and salsa picante. Add a seasonal Margarita for another $24.
