Dine Out: Truffle Specials at Maker & Monger

It’s a name that strikes joy into the hearts of cheese fiends across Melbourne: Maker & Monger. Anthony Femia’s Prahran Market stall is renowned for the quality of its cheeses and the knowledge it dispenses alongside them.

For Broadsheet’s inaugural Dine Out festival, the shop is amping up the funk with two specials featuring truffles sourced from Canberra and northern Victoria by Maker & Monger’s esteemed neighbour, Damian “Mushroom Man” Pike OAM.

The first is a truffle cacio e pepe, with Alligator-brand fresh pasta twirled in pecorino pepato, a Sardinian raw milk cheese, and finished with Pep-brand pepper and shavings of Canberran truffles. The second is the toastie of your dreams, with truffle, Marcel Petite Comté bechamel and Normandy butter on brioche.
