Dine Out: Satu Jiwa x Mr West

Bottle shop and bar Mr West has been a fixture in Footscray’s busy Nicholson Street Mall since 2017, peddling an incredibly well-rounded selection of drinks including natural wines from Europe and Australia’s most revered producers, a vast range of beers and plenty of craft spirits. While the spacious upstairs bar could be heaving, the picnic tables in the mall are usually your first indication that the place is popping off – which is often.

For Broadsheet’s second Dine Out festival, arrive early if you want one of those tables. Mr West is throwing a rowdy Indonesian street party with chef Wahyu “Tio” Prasetyo and his partner Natasha Iodice of the Satu Jiwa pop-up. The duo will be taking over the upstairs courtyard with a charcoal grill to deliver smoky, spicy West Sumatran dishes plus dessert, oysters and grilled scallops. Indonesian DJs will keep the vibes high from afternoon to evening. No need to book – just walk in.
