Didi and Dora Pop-Up
In a space underneath Lido Cinemas in Hawthorn, two Melbourne design fiends – Sophie Zilberman and Cara Slade – have opened a pop-up shop for their Instagram-born business Didi and Dora.
It’s named after their respective bubbes (Yiddish for grandmothers) and inspired by the kind of beautiful mid-century furniture their homes were filled with in the ’60s.
Here, find vintage, often one-off and very colourful furniture, homewares, lighting and rugs from around that era. Particularly popular, the team says, are pre-loved Kartell nesting tables, as well as mushroom lamps and bulbous ’70s-era mirrors.
And a Featherston lounge is expected to arrive in the next few weeks; Grant and Mary Featherston are known for their timeless designs, and for leading the modernist charge in Australia from the ’50s.
Take a closer look at what Didi and Dora has in stock on the Instagram page. Also available at the pop-up are candles and ceramics by local designers and artists. Prices start from $30.
