Dianne Gall at Metro Gallery
South Australian contemporary artist Dianne Gall returns to Melbourne for her first exhibition here since 2014.
Gall’s solo exhibition at the Metro Gallery, Lost Dreamers, features cinematic oil paintings of women with their faces obscured or turned away from the viewer, to show her subjects in a moment of quiet reflection.
Her work has been influenced by Edward Hopper’s style of portraying figures in lonely urban settings.
Gall’s art has been collected by Hollywood directors JJ Abrams (Star Wars, Lost) and Paul Feig (Bridesmades, Spy) after exhibitions in Los Angeles in 2016. She has also shown in New York, San Francisco and Berlin.
