David Lynch Retrospective at Classic and Lido Cinemas
Even if you don’t live in LA, surrealist filmmaker David Lynch’s daily YouTube weather updates are a solid way to start a day. That, and an episode or two of his cult ’90s TV hit Twin Peaks.
From June to August, Elsternwick’s Classic Cinemas and Lido Cinemas in Hawthorn are going deep into Lynch’s back catalogue, screening 10 of his feature films starting with his 1977 body-horror masterpiece Eraserhead.
The program runs weekly on Thursday nights at Classic and on Fridays at Lido, and includes his sprawling sci-fi adaptation of Dune alongside classics such as The Elephant Man, Blue Velvet, Wild at Heart and Mulholland Drive. It ends with his last feature film, 2006’s Inland Empire.
All of the films start at 7pm and were recently restored in 4K.
