David LaChapelle at the Ballarat International Foto Biennale
American photographer David LaChapelle is making his Australian debut with an exhibition at the Ballarat International Foto Biennale.
LaChapelle has been dubbed one of the most important photographers of our time. Skilled in delivering profound social messages and critique of 20th Century pop culture in his strong, vibrant images, LaChapelle has photographed the likes of Muhammad Ali, Michael Jackson and Madonna.
The centrepiece of the Ballarat International Foto Biennale exhibition, David LaChapelle features an array of works selected by the artist himself, with up to 90 of LaChapelle’s hyper-realistic works on display spanning 30 years.
The Fringe program will see 100 exhibitions in cafes and venues across Ballarat over 30 days.
The exhibition is one of eight core exhibitions at this year’s Ballarat International Foto Biennale. A public program will also see photography displayed around the streets of Central Ballarat.
The Ballarat International Foto Biennale will run from Saturday August 19 to Sunday September 17 at The Art Gallery of Ballarat.
