Dani Valent’s Signature Dish Series: Phillippa’s
At the Signature Dish masterclass cooking series led by food writer Dani Valent, you get to visit an iconic Melbourne restaurant or cafe, step into its kitchen and learn to make its signature dish with the chef.
Previous locations have included Vue de Monde and Maha, but for the next event in the series, Valent will step out of the fine dining world to fire up the ovens at the Phillippa’s bakery factory in Richmond (which is usually closed to the public).
Founder and baker Phillippa Grogan will teach 10 guests how to make her famous Christmas mince pies, and there’ll be a champagne tasting with Bibendum. You’ll leave with a bottle of wine, some pies (and the recipe) plus a special ingredient you’ll need to make more at home.
During the session, Grogan will share her tips on sourdough production and baking, and Valent will share her list of not-to-miss summer restaurants.
