India is experiencing a profound healthcare crisis due to a devastating second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic. And while it’s easy to feel powerless from thousands of kilometres away, Jessi Singh is offering a way to help.
The Indian-born chef and restaurateur is hosting fundraiser dinners at all his venues: Horn Please in Fitzroy North, regional Kyneton diner Dhaba at the Mill, playful CBD eatery Daughter in Law, Flinders Lane wine bar Mrs Singh and four-storey pub Mr Brownie.
They’re each holding a curry night on Wednesday May 19, with options for vegan, vegetarian, pescetarian and gluten-free diners. The feasts will all be served family-style, with four appetisers, a thali or round platter with bowls of different curries, and a dessert.
Tickets also include pre-dinner cocktails and a glass of Cava (Spanish sparkling wine), with additional beer and wine options.
Bookings are $80 per person and can be made via the individual venue websites.
All proceeds will go towards buying and air-shipping medical supplies to India with help from doctors at the Royal Women’s and St Vincent’s hospitals.
