Curry Festival at the Dandenong Markets
Dandenong is a hub for the cuisines of the subcontinent thanks to its large Indian, Sri Lankan and Pakistani communities. And this event at Dandenong Market is making the most of it with a one-day curry festival.
Curries are an essential part of many different cultures' cuisines. Japan has its sweet and yellow variety, Thailand brings the tang and heat, and India's endless varieties are aromatic and spicy.
Vendors will be serving curries from India, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Mauritius and Africa. Favourites such as tikka masala, butter chicken and dosa pancakes will also be available.
The day will also involve entertainment, including African drumming, Bollywood dancing and Mauritian music. The "Singing Chef" Don Sherman will also present a Sri Lankan cooking demonstration.
From 10am to 4pm.
