Collingwood Yards Open Day
Collingwood Yards has been a long time coming. After five years of transformation, the former Collingwood Technical School is now home to artists’ studios, galleries, a radio station, and retail stores, with a restaurant, rooftop bar and basement speakeasy still to come.
To celebrate the launch, its doors are opening wide to the public for a day full of art, activities and entertainment.
Emerging musical artists from record label The Push are performing at Keith Haring's restored mural; there are also live sets curated by Collingwood Yards tenants such as Hope Street Radio; and DJs from PBS106.7FM are spinning tunes into the late afternoon.
Studios and galleries are also opening, giving the public a chance to interact with artists and get behind-the-scenes looks at their creative processes.
The Centre for Projection Art is lighting up the night sky, while elsewhere around the hub there are screenings, art installations and public workshops.
A new art and design market is popping up in the courtyard, with a floral backdrop by XXFlos and new work to purchase from ceramicist Tantri Mustika and design houses The Social Studio, Gammin Threads and Bananalands, and other tenants.
From 12pm to 6pm.
