Code Like a Girl: Roaming Classroom for Rebel Girls
Code Like a Girl is a social enterprise working to end gender inequality in the tech industry. It gives girls and women the confidence, knowledge and support to further or begin careers in coding.
Now, Code Like a Girl is taking its mission on the road. A new mobile classroom will visit six Victorian municipalities including Brimbank, Hobsons Bay, Maribyrnong, Melton and Moonee Valley, finishing up in Wyndham in March. The classroom – which only takes two to three hours to assemble at each location – is decked out with colourful interiors, motivational posters and programmable lamps.
Participants in the classes will learn to create their own game using block coding, learn to produce digital art and start work on their first HTML/CSS project. The workshops run in one- and two-hour sessions and are open to those aged six to 18.
