Light to Night Festival at Chadstone

From June 11 to July 12, Chadstone presents Light to Night, a month-long festival of immersive art, dining and after-dark experiences. The inaugural program brings together major cultural commissions, chef-led dining events, live music and family-friendly workshops in a city-wide line-up unlike anything Chadstone has hosted before.

At its centre is Home, the first large-scale exhibition in three years from celebrated Australian artist Rone. Installed inside a storefront, the work reconstructs a weatherboard Australian home, complete with the artist’s signature detailed interiors, exploring themes of fragility, decay and nostalgia in a jarring setting against the modern centre.

Elsewhere, the focus turns to food. In partnership with Melbourne Food & Wine, Chadstone will host the World’s Longest Dinner on June 17 – a new spin on the popular communal dining event featuring Masterchef 2024 winner Nat Thaipun, Carnation Canteen’s Audrey Shaw and Madeleine de Proust’s Hyoju Park. Also on the food line-up is Dinners with Friends, a series of intimate evenings in The Market Pavilion hosted by familiar names including Julia Busuttil Nishimura, Khanh Ong, Lucy Rosenberg and Alice Zaslavsky.

There’ll also be a major light installation by rising artist Dean Norton in collaboration with Studio John Fish, alongside live performances from Canberra rockers Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers and pop artist Oliver Cronin, as well as community events and a creative school holiday program inspired by Rone’s installation.
