Centro Verso

Fri 22nd November, 2019 – Fri 6th December, 2019
Backwoods Gallery
25 Easey Street, Collingwood VIC 3066
In his latest show, Melbourne photographer Tom Blachford turns his surreal, nocturnal lens on his hometown.

Inspired by M.C. Escher and the impossible cities of anime and sci-fi, photographer Tom Blachford creates surreal worlds from real-life places.

His latest show, Centro Verso, which is on now at Collingwood's Backwoods Gallery, uses long exposure photography to explore the built environment of his home city Melbourne, and turns it into a futuristic, purple-hued dystopia.

The show also includes five large-scale sculptures, hanging above the gallery space, designed to be physical manifestations of Blachford's photography.
