Food Fair Festival

Sun 24th February, 2019
Avendale Heights Library and Community Centre
69–79 Military Road, Avondale Heights
Cannoli is the star of the show, but you can also get around Italian classics such as vino cotto, pizza and gelato.

The City of Moonee Valley is hosting an Italian food festival inspired by cannoli – the beloved Sicilian pastry filled with ricotta, Nutella, pistachio and many other options.

Cannoli celebrations include a workshop and demonstration from the founders of Avondale Heights' Cannoli Bar – they'll also serve arancini and cannoli throughout the afternoon.

There will be cooking demonstrations by the Providore Sisters, who'll run you through making an authentic pasta bolognese sauce, and Pizzicotto Strathmore teaching audiences how a real-deal Italian pizza is produced.

Attendees who are feeling inspired to take the cuisine home can stock up on Italian goods from local producers. Il Baronello Vinocotto will have a stall selling all kinds of vino cotto – a semi-sweet dessert wine – including one in which baby figs have been marinated. Food vendors will be selling cannoli, pizza, gelato and other options throughout the day.

There will be a number of activities for kids, including pasta-making and a gardening workshop.

From 12pm to 4pm.
