Calypso Wine Party at Abbotsford Convent

“We want to set the scene for a space where our community connects and grows, where conversations are curious, where ideas grow and where we pause to appreciate the talent in our hospitality industry, particularly those who have the heart and effort to dedicate their practice to making sure the relationship between wine and mama earth is one of mutual benefit,” Anna Clifford (former manager at Julie) and Claudelle Savannah (former sommelier at Public Wine Shop) said last year when they ran the first edition of Calypso, which is back for 2024.

True to that, the three-hour informal tasting includes wines from Australia’s leading new-wave wineries, including Minim, Limus, The Other Right and many others. Top importers Campbell Burton and Giorgio De Maria are also on board again, bringing sulphur-free wines from France and Italy into the mix. Snacks will come from Sicilian Smoke Out and Princess Chicken Shop.

After the tasting wraps at 4pm, boogie until 10pm with sets from Asha Franco, Ali Currey, Chik Chika, Kasun and The Tortoise.
