Some of Melbourne’s best bakeries and cafes are coming together again for a Christmas edition of the Cake + Kindess bake sale to help women from refugee backgrounds access employment in the hospitality industry.
It’s organised by social enterprise slash caterers Merchant Road with the help of Market Lane Coffee and will raise money for Many Hands, a paid training program offering pathways into employment. Some of its trainees will be practising their barista skills on the day, too.
The line-up of bakers includes Market Lane Coffee, Cecilia Fox, All Are Welcome, Cremorne Street Bakers, Q le Baker, Cobb Lane, Wild Life Bakery, Loafer, Sticky Fingers Bakery, Miss Lady Bird Cakes, Red Door Corner Store, Toledos, Söt by Mörk, Austro Bakery, Babjan, Wood Frog Bakery, Mister Nice Guy and Convent Bakery.
Attendees are also encouraged to BYO reusable coffee cups and containers or plates to take home their treats.
All proceeds will go towards the Many Hands 2020 program.
From 9am to 1pm.
