Bruce Munro knows a thing or two about light. It’s an essential element of his art practice, which spans over 30 years and has propelled the artist to worldwide recognition for for his immersive, large-scale installations inspired by his interest in shared human experience. From Saturday June 25 until Sunday October 16, Heide presents Bruce Munro: From Sunrise Road, Munro’s first museum exhibition in Australia, which combines both indoor and outdoor experiential artworks with more intimate story-pieces.

Munro was born and still lives in the UK, but has also spent many years living and working in Australia – where he first began his explorations in the medium of light. Bruce Munro: From Sunrise Road reveals the depth of Munro’s practice and the breadth of his inspiration, from the personal and literary to the philosophical and spiritual. The exhibition is interactive, sensory and aims to be contemplative and playful in nature.

Throughout the exhibition, Heide will be keeping their doors open until 8pm from Thursday to Saturday nights, to allow visitors to view Munro’s illuminated outdoor artwork after dark. There’ll also be guided tours every Friday at 6.30pm, as well as snacks and hot drinks at the Heide Cafe. If the kids are coming along, you can also grab them a fun pack from the Heide Shop, containing all the after-dark viewing essentials.
