Got a special occasion in the diary? From Monday June 23 until Tuesday December 16, NAB credit card holders can get $100 off their bill when they spend $500 or more and pay using their NAB credit card at a clutch of iconic restaurants from the Scott Pickett Group.

The list includes four of Melbourne’s most consistently booked restaurants.

In Northcote, Estelle has offered a seasonal set menu since 2011. It’s a quiet fixture of High Street with a menu that changes often, but tends to feature local vegetables, fish and pasture-raised meat, plated simply.

Matilda in South Yarra is built around fire-based cooking. Most of the menu touches a grill, including aged duck, whole John Dory and beef cooked over red gum and ironbark.

In the CBD, Chancery Lane ’s menu reflects Pickett’s interest in classical European techniques – dishes like duck-liver parfait, handcut pasta with crab, and roast quail come alive at the chef’s hand. Here, the wine list leans French.

Fitzroy’s Smith St Bistrot brings a casual touch to its French-influenced offering. Think steak frites, onion soup, oysters and much-loved house cocktails.

And don’t forget Longrain, the iconic Thai restaurant that Pickett stepped in to save from closure in 2020. It’s been serving modern, well-executed Thai for two decades now, with menu classics like seared scallop in betel leaf, caramelised five-spice pork hock and green papaya salad.

Each of these venues offers its own take of Pickett’s approach, which is built on sourcing, technical consistency and straightforward service.
