Postponed: The Big Spaghetti

Sat 28th March, 2020
Shed X at Queen Victoria Market
Queen Street, Melbourne
A mammoth pasta party by some of Australia's best Italian eateries.

This event has been postponed due to coronavirus concerns.

As part of this year’s Melbourne Food & Wine Festival, Queen Victoria Market is hosting a night dedicated to hot chips. The weekend after, the focus will shift to pasta.

At this family-friendly pasta party, you can carb-load with Capitano’s rigatoncini with vodka sauce, and spaghetti and meatballs, and Lupo’s eggplant fritto with smoked chilli and bagna cauda (a sauce made from garlic and anchovies) and maccheroni with braised lamb and pangrattato (breadcrumbs). Plus, Cicciabella from Sydney will be serving its mafaldine (a type of ribbon-shaped pasta) with garlic, chilli and kombu, and malloreddus arrabbiata (a gnocchi-like pasta with a spicy red sauce).

Other venues on the line-up include Tipo 00, Trattoria Emilia, Rosetta Ristorante, Marameo, Lello and Caterina's, plus Sydney’s Cafe Paci (in collaboration with wine expert Giorgio de Maria).

There’ll also be aperitivi by Bar Americano. And you can learn how to make TV personality Matt Preston’s bolognaise sauce – from start to finish – at a live cooking demo with comedian Sam Pang.

Entry is free, with food and drink available to buy. This event is cashless.

From 11am to 8pm.
