A three-day shopping event featuring independent designers, creative workshops and local food and drink.

The Big Design Market will host more than 230 independent designers selling homewares, fashion, beauty products, furniture, tech items and kids stuff.

At creative workshops attendees can customise a pair of Japanese slippers with textile artist Cat Rabbit; learn how to care for indoor plants from The Plant Society; and get tips on printing and portrait drawing from Melbourne artists. Workshops cost between $25 and $40.

A selection of food and drink stalls will be available, including by Misschu, St. ALi Coffee, 5 & Dime Bagels and Gelato Messina.

Designer showbags, valued at $175, will be on offer for $30; only a limited number are available. The products inside will be from a range of designers including Georgia Perry, Kleins Perfumery and Little Veggie Patch Co.

A five-metre-high floral installation featuring huge gold vases has been designed by Melbourne artist Pete Cromer specially for the market.
