Learn how to sew your own belt bag from traditional, discarded Japanese silks. No prior sewing knowledge required.
Japan-based accessories label Mikan is in Melbourne for VAMFF to run three sewing workshops at Coburg’s Second Stitch.
French designer Clementine Sandner upcycles traditional, discarded Japanese textiles (such as kimono silks) into new bags for sale. But she also hosts sewing workshops where she details how they're made.
At each four-hour workshop, you’ll learn how to craft a belt bag from scratch. Choose your fabric, then Sandner will introduce you to every tool and technique step-by-step, so there are no sewing skills required. Although, experienced sewers will have the option
You'll leave with a brand-new customised bag.
From 3pm to 7pm.
