A UK art, design and technology collective brings the world premiere of its new exhibition to ACMI.

Since 2004, UK collective Universal Everything has turned the world of CGI on its head to create supersized artworks and installations that blend design, architecture, nature and technology. From May 22 to September 29, they’re bringing the world premiere of Beings – their largest international exhibition to date – to ACMI in Fed Square.

Beings brings together 13 artworks from Universal Everything’s 20-year history, which has taken them from London to New York, Seoul and beyond. At the centre of the exhibition are four brand new artworks featuring an assortment of curious characters born from code, and a collaboration with renowned French choreographer Benjamin Millepied and the LA Dance Project.

From forms and texture to kaleidoscopic fur, molten lava, shifting water molecules and more, Beings is an exhibition that’s brought to life by visitors. Jump, dance and play and watch the large-scale projections change and animate in response to your movement. Created from a mix of game engines and VFX software and originating from hand-drawn sketches, the towering installations and generative artworks of Beings ensure that no two visits to the exhibition are the same.

Over winter, the exhibition extends its opening hours with a suite of late-night public programs, a contemporary dance series featuring Rebecca Jensen and Sarah Aiken, school holiday activities and interactive ACMI Preschoolers events.

Tickets are on sale now.
